What is your
favourite food memory from childhood?
I remember during childhood almost
all our Sundays were about “CHOLE BATHURE” with “DAHI BHALLE”. A Punjabi family
is united by the appetizing food and contagious chuckle.
What’s
your favorite comfort food?
Rice
with curd is my favorite comfort food as it is quick to cook and light to eat.
Three reasons why I consider myself
foodie?
I
like exploring new cuisines.
I
crave for food as soon as I see them in photos and videos
My
taste buds are always on the run.
Which are your three favorite
cuisines & why?
Hailing
from a Punjabi foodie family, the only cuisine that stands out is own Punjab da
Khaana. Chole Bhature, Butter Chicken and Shahi Paneer are dishes I would
consider a legacy in themselves. Of course there are some other gems too, but
Punjabi Cuisine rocks worldwide and that’s an undisputed fact.
Do you have a favorite food
ingredient?
Cardamom,
it adds that special aroma and zing to most dishes.
Which food ingredient do you
loathe/think is over-rated?
Black pepper. You will find it in every kitchen and in almost every cuisine. I feel it should be sprinkled only in selected cuisines.

What is your favorite fruit and vegetable?
My
favorite fruit is Mango simply because of the fact that it is the reminiscent
of my grandmother who used to make me sit on her lap and feed me during summer
vacations. I can live my whole life eating spinach every day with every meal. That
is my treasured vegetable. Probably, I am crazy about it because my mom ate it
a night prior to giving me birth.
Read another Delhi Foodie talk about his favorite foods.
And your favorite herb/spice?
Nutmeg
is my favorite spice. It adds aroma to the food and gives a perfect tinge to
the cooked food.
If you had to eat one meal for the
rest of your life, what would that be?
It
will surely include butter chicken, palak paneer, butter naan, cumin rice with
curd and chicken salad.
Have you ever travelled anywhere
just/mainly for the food?
Yes
I have. One evening while I was feeling low, my friend showed up at my place and
we took our bicycles (it was back in 2010 during my school days). We went to a
newly opened food café which was doing wonders in our vicinity for its Chicken Chow
Mein recipe.
Do you indulge in food porn? Actively
or passively? What impresses you with food porn?
Yes
I do sometimes indulge myself in food porn. The fact that the society has
evolved so much during all these years in terms of cuisines and the food vogue intrigues
me.
What kind of oil do you use the most?
Olive Oil. It has various benefits like it prevents heart diseases and one can use it without carrying the guilt of getting obese.

Which is the most over rated food cuisine?
In
my opinion, dosa and momos. These two, have become the staple choices for most Indians
to feast on whenever they are hungry or want to eat out with friends.
My take on:
KETO DIETS: It is not favorable from the health perspective. It’s reported that this diet causes low blood pressure, kidney stones and there are increased chances of heart diseases. I do not endorse the idea of Keto diets as everything is important for our body.
An International Food Explorer shares some secrets.
INTERMITTENT
FASTING: Yet again, a concept I don’t support. I
believe the right way to stay fit is to eat and burn calories by walking,
running or doing exercise every day. Intermittent fasting may cause lack of
proteins, carbohydrates, fats etc in our body which may lead to various
disorders. Particularly for strict time feeding, I would say it should depend
on person to person. From my point of view, food carries energy and if we are
not convinced that what we are eating is right or not eating at the right time
is harmful, then definitely it will harm us. It is all about mental
convenience.
Which super foods have impressed you
the most?
I
love berries as those are high in fiber, tastes amazing and helps in fighting
against many diseases. I also feel craze for Green Tea is increased in India in
the past few years.
How do you
detox your body after an over dose of eating out?
Green tea is the best “Go to” option
for detoxification. It is healthy in many ways and instantly works out with the magic of detoxification.
What’s your favorite kitchen gadget?
The
favorite of all is SPOON. It supports me getting rid of my hunger.
