70% of Mumbai’s No. 1 hotspot no longer sealed

For over a month, Worli Koliwada and the Jijamata Nagar slum in G-South ward continued to be in news for being among the city’s worst Covid-affected areas. But there is some positive news now. The slum and 70% of the koliwada, the city’s first coronavirus containment zone, were unsealed by the BMC on Monday as no new Covid-positive cases were reported from these two areas over a fortnight – the duration the virus usually takes to run its cycle. Before this, around 100 positive cases were recorded in each of the two areas. G-South (which comprises Worli, Prabhadevi, Lower Parel and Mahalaxmi), for long among Mumbai’s 24 wards to be worst hit by Covid, has now slipped to the second place.
