What is your favourite food memory from childhood?
Bengalis love fish. So obviously my favourite memory would be simple (Rohu) fish curry and rice made by my mother. Occasionally she would make a special duck egg curry which we would relish.

What’s your favourite comfort food?
Stuffed grilled chicken, mashed potatoes with sautéed vegetables in mushroom sauce.

3 reasons why you consider yourself a Foodie?
I would assume a foodie is someone who loves to eat, which I do.
Being the proverbial foodie, I love to feed and treat others.
Taking my foodie passion further, I enjoy cooking at home and experimenting with cuisines.

What’s the strangest dish you’ve ever tried?
I have been adventurous to try frog meat and deer meat. Both were chewy and bitter which I didn’t relish at all. But I did try an Octopus once at a Sea Food Festival. The meat tasted just like prawns. Also tried sushi with raw fish, which was yummy.

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Tough choices for a Bengali foodie connoisseur like me. I guess it would be kochi panthar jhol (tender mutton curry) with steamed rice and tomato aamshotto chatni made by my mother or my wife. If I have to order from a restaurant then it would be Special Mutton Briyani and Chicken chaap from Arsaalan in Kolkata.

What kind of oil do you use most of all?
Kacchi Ghani mustard oil for non veg, sunflower oil for vegetables and olive oil for grilled and Italian food.

Which is the most over-rated food cuisine?
Gujrati Undhiyu. I feel it's highly overrated.

Any quirky food dishes combinations you have invented or love feasting on?
Have you ever tried Luchi (maide ka puri) with nolen gurer payesh (gur ka kheer). Or Cheesy Pasta with Tandoori chicken tikka. Don’t accuse me of watering your taste buds now.

Your take on:
Keto diets – This diet is a passing phase people which will get over with soon.
Intermittent fasting – For people who can't control their taste buds.
Fusion food cuisine – For people who loves to experiment.

What are your favourites?
Indian street food – Phuchka and Mutton Kati Roll from Kolkata and Chaat from Delhi.
Indian dessert – Hot kesar jalebi with chilled rabri and gajar ka halwa (seasonal).
Hidden gem restaurant of your city (and why) – Aminia in Kolkata for yummy Mutton Biriyani and Jai Jawan for the best fried fish and dal makhani. They make it like no one makes it. Simple and yet so delicious.
Over-rated Indian restaurant in your city (and why) – Kailash Parbhat... nothing exceptional.

How do you detox your body after an overdose of eating out?
I prefer simple fresh lime soda with salt and sugar. But most of the time I end up having unhealthy aerated drinks.

Any health foods you swear by?
Chicken Caesars Salad, Grilled Chicken, Egg White Omelette, Pita with Humus.
