What is your favourite food memory from childhood?
My childhood was simple and cool rather than kids these
days have plenty of unhealthy food choices. I can still feel the Green chicken
curry taste in my mouth prepared by my mom during Christmas when I was in
really young.
Another memory is during the summer vacations. We used to
eagerly wait for ice candy seller who used come on a bicycle. Hearing the sound
of the ringing bell, we all kids used to run out to take our pick of ice
candies in different colours. Those were the days and these candies were our
OMG moments.
What’s your favourite comfort food?
Red rice porridge, chutney, fish fry, pickle and papad. Quite
typical from where I come.

3 reason why you consider yourself a Foodie?
Food is one of my passions. I have been a foodie
since I have been in college. And i am happy to travel for food since
its one of the best ways to learn about culture. I love to explore diverse
regional food. My tasted experimentations vary from homemade food to
street food, restaurants to five star hotels. I am someone who
appreciates and love eating good food. My palate is adventurous, willing
to try anything new once. Yes, I do some dishes I wouldn’t try.
What’s the strangest dish you’ve ever tried?
I have tasted Crocodile meat in Thailand, it had a weird
taste. Somehow I couldn't have more than a bite.
If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what
would it be?
Red rice /porridge, fish curry and fish fry.
What kind of oil do you use most of all?
Coconut/sunflower
Which is the most over-rated food cuisine?
To me pizza is bland and overloaded with cheese. Moreover it
has a refined flour base.
Any quirky food dishes combinations you have invented or
love feasting on?
Spinach ice-cream, guava juice with a dash of green chilli,
meat and fruits.
Your take on:
Keto diets – I have never tried the Keto diet. My knowledge
about it limited to what I have read about it.
Intermittent fasting – Intermittent
fasting doesn't change what you eat, but it changes when you eat. So if you eat
a healthy meal and follow the time carefully, it definitely helps you to
reduce weight in a month or so. I have tried this for a month.
Fusion food cuisine – Apple Jalebi with gulab ice cream and
Mexican rajma sandwich are some of the fusion foods I have tried.
Which super foods have impressed you the most?
Nuts, haldi, coconut, blueberry, Ragi, drumstick leaves and
porridge.
What are your favourites?
Indian street food –Pani Puri and Dahi puri
Indian dessert – Ras malai and rosgullas
Hidden gem restaurant of your city – Thimappa restaurant in
Udupi
The restaurant you keep going back to - Machlies in
Mangalore and Thimappa. Excellent fish preparation in both the places.
How do you detox your body after an overdose of eating out?
I start with warm water and lime, have light breakfast,
keep my body hydrated with water, tender coconut water and green tea. In the
detox phase, I avoid dairy products, sugar, fried stuff and eat less carb food.
I increase my intake of fruits, veggies, greens, soups or grilled fish which is
good for the gut.
Any health foods you swear by?
Nuts, red rice porridge and fish.
